AktschaItem no.: 1501128 Size: 206 cm x 288 cm
Aktscha rugs are knotted by Turkmens in the Aktscha (Acqcha) district, which is situated in the central part of the Jowzjan Province of northern Afghanistan. The Aktscha rugs are very similar to the Old Afghan (Khal Mohammadi) rugs, but are of a lower quality, as the knot density is lower. The rugs have the same characteristics, with the deep, warm, and fiery red base colour, the relatively high and sturdy pile, the wool base weave, and the use of goat’s and horse’s hair. The Gül (Elephant’s Foot) pattern is the primary pattern of the Aktscha rugs.
