Gholtugh
Gholtugh
This rug is knotted in the Zandjan district, by Kurdish nomads and their descendants. Goltoughs are high quality rugs similar to the classical Bidjars. The compact structure is achieved through a technique where the double warp is “tapped” particularly hard. The patterns are typically a fine hexagram in the centre, encircled by stylised flowers, leaves, and animals. The colours are often beige, red, and brown.
